The purpose of creating Udyam Registration was to make the registration process for Micro Small Medium Enterprises (MSME) businesses easier for business owners to complete. Prior to the introduction of Udyam Registration, the administrative process for doing so required managing a lot of paperwork and was highly time-consuming and difficult. For medium-sized, small-scale, and micro-enterprises, things have altered and, to some extent, improved since the introduction of Udyam Registration.

If you own a medium, small, or micro-enterprise and haven’t registered your MSME yet, you should be aware that you will be eligible to get a number of benefits once you do so through Udyam Registration.

There was a previous system called EM-I/II before the UAM system (Entrepreneur Memorandum). Entrepreneurs previously chose a heterogeneous system under this system.

While some states had their own portal for handling MSME registration, others used to rely on the national platform. Few of them previously relied on manual paperwork.

But, after the outdated system was replaced, things have changed.

Udyam Registration: What Is It?

The biggest query in the minds of many novice business owners is what Udyam Registration is. You’ve found the proper site if you have the same question.

A government registration, sometimes referred to as an MSME registration or Udyam registration, comes with a recognition certificate and a personal identification number. This is for certification of small- and medium-sized firms.

The primary goal of the establishment of this facility was to give the government a means of giving the maximum benefits to Indian medium- or small-scale enterprises or industries that have registered via MSME using their Aadhar Card Number.

The 12-digit Aadhar Number of the entity’s owner, director, or proprietor must be provided. Whether the business or entity is a sole proprietorship, an LLP, a private limited company, or anything else, this is a must. The recognition certificate should have been given to it as part of the MSME registration procedure.

Who Can Register for Udyam?

Let’s clarify a few things. Organizations that qualify for Udyam Registration must be engaged in either service provision or the production, processing, or preservation of commodities. Alternatively put, traders that purchase, sell, import, or export items are not even qualified to apply for Udyam Registration.

But you should be aware that in order to qualify as a medium, small, or micro-enterprise and receive the MSME registration, a business must meet a certain set of requirements.

Different Business Forms

Micro Businesses

1 crore rupees in investment and 5 crore rupees in revenue

Small Enterprises

Up to Rs. 10 Cr. in investment, and up to Rs. 50 Cr. in revenue

Medium Businesses

Udyam Registering is a simple process, and completing the forms is also not too difficult. The system is currently somewhat revitalized and wants relatively less data than the earlier approach. It’s crucial to remember that the MSME Registration is free, and the website doesn’t collect a formal fee for distributing registration certificates.

It’s much easier and more productive now. This is a short guide on how to register as an MSME and get Udyam Registration.
